Come join the Community team which is part of our Inspirational Shopping experience Our goal is to make Amazon a destination for customers to keep up to date on all the authors, brands, influencers, etc. they care about. We are creating highly tailored experiences based off who a customer follows. These include notifications, a timeline of updates, and suggestions for other people to follow.

We are strategically growing the Follow customer base over the next 2 years by creating new community features enabling customer's to like, follow and comment on items. We are looking for a smart full stack developer that will work on designing highly scalable systems, executing the planning, and addressing operational improvements.

Candidates needs to have a strong system delivery background, well-rounded technical background and demonstrated experience working on large scale projects. The candidate must be customer obsessed, like rapid experimentation, have strong problem solving and communication skills, enjoy working with native AWS services, and thrive on solving open-ended business problems. The candidate should be comfortable working in an agile environment and collaborating with multiple teams ranging from product and design to development teams.

As part of the Community Features team, you will:
Lead the Design, development and implementation of back end and front end components.
Mentor others in the maintenance of highly scalable and extensible platforms and solutions using native AWS services.
Design and lead the development of event-driven architectures, micro-services, infrastructure, and test automation.
Provide inputs into product vision, technical design and implementation, and operational excellence.
Lead the development and iteration of front end application features.
Work closely with client teams to define requirements and identify opportunities to improve integration with client teams' software.
Influence long term technical vision and roadmaps.

Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of industry experience building distributed systems and algorithms for commercial online services
  • Domain knowledge in data analytics, machine learning and large scale applications using objected oriented languages like Java, C++, Typscript, etc.
  • React, AngularJS, Vue or other javascript experience.
  • Experience in IOS/Android mobile development
  • Leadership abilities to drive results in agile environment following best practices including leading and mentoring other developers.
  • Strong desire to improve our customers shopping experience
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements, development, experimentation, launch and measurement
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audience
