Our client, an industry leading fiberglass company is looking for a Research Chemist to support their manufacturing plant. The role is for an experienced hire with a deep knowledge of chopped strand fabrication technologies, sizing's, and composites.
Modify and formulate aqueous sizing that promote strong fiberglass-resin bonds
Design studies to evaluate sizing performance
Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing staff to execute experiments and process data
Troubleshoot commercial production issues relating to sizing chemistry and fiberglass forming
Work with manufacturing teams on support projects to improve reliability and profitability
Interface with external customers to develop new products and improve existing ones
Support commercial and manufacturing divisions with technical support
Thesis-based M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field
Experience designing, replicating, and interpreting laboratory experiments
PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field
Understanding of emulsions and aqueous-phase chemical reactions
Experience with continuous processes
Strong attention to detail
Ability to drive projects independently
