Role Overview

Location: Stoke, ST5 9HT

Hours: 37.5, Monday to Friday

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate HR professional to join the team at our Stoke bakery in Newcastle-under-Lyme. As a key member of the HR team, the HR Business Partner provides direction and guidance around all aspects of our people strategy. They will provide an effective HR service to front line managers and employees in relation to performance management, employee relations, change management, resource and succession planning, skills development and labour relations.

Key Accountabilities

Reporting to the Lead HR Business Partner, key accountabilities include:

Be part of the "Safety First" culture in role modelling safe working practices.
To provide support, coaching and training to line managers in the recruitment, selection and onboarding of employees.
To provide support to line managers with employee relations activities including grievances, disciplinary meetings and wage negotiations.
Work with line managers to consistently manage attendance including absence management, engaging with Occupational Health where necessary.
Coaching line managers in performance management, identifying learning and development needs, creating appropriate training solutions.
Ensure that two-way communication channels are in place across the site.
Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders including the wider HR team, the HR Admin Centre and Payroll teams, ensuring input deadlines are met and SLAs adhered to.
Provide support and HR information when required for audits, as well as auditing third party labour suppliers.
Active involvement in the Health & Wellbeing plan.
Maintain a current knowledge of HR best practice and employment law, as well as industry, consumer, trade and competitive trends through networks.
The Right Person

This is a truly generalist HR role and the ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work at pace with passion, enthusiasm, tenacity and resilience. Other requirements include:

Educated to degree level or equivalent and CIPD qualified (part/full).
Proven HR generalist experience, ideally within an FMCG environment, though this is not essential.
Sound employment law knowledge.
Experience gained working with Trade Unions is advantageous.
The ability to build effective relationships, and the credibility to lead and influence management.
A lateral thinker with good critical reasoning skills capable of delivering pragmatic HR solutions.
