WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The Behavioral Health Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and scheduling Behavioral Health and Psychiatric care for patients in need of consultation(s) as requested by the primary care provider. Responsibilities will also include working on both internal and external referrals, assisting with scheduling patient appointments, triage patient care, obtaining authorization, tracking and maintaining appropriate documentation to support both providers and patients. Coordinates and ensures the smooth flow of the referral and authorization process to meet the needs of our patients, establish collaborative relationships with the internal and external specialists and insurance companies, and represent the organization professionally and positively.

Requirements:
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The successful candidate will be willing and able to:
Process Referrals:
Ability to triage Behavioral Health and Psychiatry referrals per clinician and FQHC guidelines
Coordinate the services for patients who meet the criteria for internal Behavioral Health and Psychiatric service guidelines
Coordinate the authorization (as needed) and referral process for each assigned referral.
Monitor referral requests for completeness and take appropriate steps to review, request and obtain additional information when requested services are incomplete or inconsistent with scope of service.
Documentation:
Provide accurate data entry of referral or authorization information into the electronic medical record.
Send complete information to the patient's insurance (when applicable) and referring specialist in order to coordinate referral.
Make outreach efforts to insurances, patient, specialist office and care team as set forth by department guidelines and clinical priorities.
Customer Service:
Demonstrate a caring and interested manner. Listen carefully to the patient's questions and concerns.
Handle telephone calls in a friendly, courteous and sensitive manner. Return calls and follow up in a timely manner.
Interacts collaboratively with clinical staff, other ancillary departments, and outside entities (specialist office, insurances, etc.).
Resolves differences in a spirit of cooperation and creates solutions, which benefits all parties, especially clinic patients.
Performs other related duties as indicated or when requested by the manager.
BH Coordinator II:
All Duties and Responsibilities listed above
Support, train staff and document and communicate any recommendations to the Referral Manager.
Attend meetings with internal and community members to discuss Mental Health services, guidelines and California Law around Mental Health services
Provide weekly reporting regarding the volume of services referred and scheduled for mental health services, internally and externally
Meet with CMO and Behavioral Health Director to review and report training opportunities, clinical and administrative issues
Make oral presentation to various groups, as needed
The successful candidate has:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field is preferred
BH Coordinator II: Minimum one and a half (1.5) years of experience in a Behavioral or Mental Health, medical clinic or healthcare setting processing specialty referrals and authorizations.
Prior experience using Electronic Health Records systems- Epic Preferred
Requires knowledge of medical and billing terminology (ICD-9/10 and CPT codes).
Requires understanding of health insurance concepts and requirements, including HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other federal and state agency programs.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and use good judgment, at times under the pressure of deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of individuals
Ability to provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers, reflecting Elica's values of respect, integrity, collaboration and service
Demonstrated commitment to the provision of services for the underserved and sensitivity working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins; disabled, homeless, substance users, HIV (AIDS) infected, and/or physiologically impaired.
Adherence to all Elica policies including but not limited to: standards of conduct, time and attendance, and infection control procedures and social distancing policies.
Additional Requirements
Must have a current and valid California driver's license and the ability to provide proof of personal auto insurance on the vehicle driven during working hours.

Compensation - Dependent Upon Experience
$21.00 - $27.30 an hour
